August Is National Water Quality Month

August 25, 2022

In August, we observe National Water Quality Month, which is focused on making the most out of the small amount of freshwater that can be found on earth. National Water Quality Month is important because clean, fresh water is the very lifeblood of our existence - vital to health, agriculture, and our environment. At Jason’s Water Systems, we’re pleased to educate our customers on National Water Quality Month, as well as the importance of fresh water at home. Imagine having difficulty gaining access to clean drinking water; this is a reality for much of the world, and it’s easy for the more fortunate to take advantage of this. In this post from Jason’s Water Systems blog, we’ll discuss National Water Quality Month, and how our products can help improve the drinking water quality of your home.

The History of National Water Quality Month

In the early 1970s, two United States congressional acts were passed to protect domestic water sources. Initially, the Clean Water Act of 1972 saw the federal government take steps to curb water pollution, making dumping high amounts of toxic materials into any body of water a federal crime. The Clean Water Act set the stage for surface water to be of higher quality before being consumed by humans or used for recreation. Then, in 1974, the Safe Drinking Water Act was passed to protect public water systems and groundwater quality.

Fast forward to 2005 when the Environmental Protection Agency, more commonly known as the EPA, backed by the United Nations, established National Water Quality Month to help promote public knowledge of water source conservation, and what can be done at home to protect drinking water quality for local communities.

What Makes Water Quality So Important?

Liquid water is the very reason that humans and other living organisms have been able to inhabit the earth for millions of years. In developed countries, it’s easy to take advantage of our sinks and showers and the freshwater that comes from them. But, we often forget that in some underdeveloped countries, clean drinking water can be difficult to come by to any degree. Since the freshwater sources of the world are limited, they must be protected to ensure the longevity of future generations, as well as in hopes of supplying water to those areas of the world that are in need.

Have The Highest Quality Water At Home With Jason’s Water Systems

At Jason’s Water Systems, we manufacture several water softening and filtration systems that can help you improve the quality of your water at home. Let’s face it: Central Texas isn’t exactly known for having the best water quality, especially in more rural areas outside of the more populated metropolitan areas. Excessive minerals in water like calcium and magnesium, as well as toxic chemicals like sulfur and chlorine, are commonplace in the drinking water found in homes across the state of Texas. Our water softeners and filtration systems are specifically designed to filter and improve the quality of water in the Central Texas area, and we’re proud to offer one of the most efficient systems in the country. If you find that your dishes contain water spots, that your hair and skin are dry after showering, or that your water smells unpleasant or tastes odd, Jason’s Water Systems can help. With our whole house water softening systems, in-sink water filtration units, and even custom-built well water softening units, we’re sure to have the right water softening and filtration system for our home.
